The Don Father | BMW 328i Motorsport | Spongebob
It was inevitable, I saw it coming and it happened - The Mafia made contact.
I received a call from the Don Father, desperate to have his BMW 328i Motorsport detailed as it would be on display at Auto Atlantic for the F30 launch.
I gladly obliged, glad to finally be getting my hands on the famed Spongebob.
The car arrived, looking splendid as usual:
Although clean already, as Don had already washed it the night before as well as clayed it I decided it would be best to get started by giving the mag wheels a quick clean and get going with a foam session.
Washed and dried, Spongebob was already looking excellent.
The paintwork looked good, however after one pass huge improvements could be seen on the paintwork.
The paint, although smooth and soft was very oxidized, causing the paintwork to go dull and lifeless particularly in areas like the roof, bonnet and bootlid which were exposed to the most sunlight.
Furthermore, over time the Dakota Yellow had become stained which was evident after a few passes on every panel.
Using a finishing pad and Chemical Guys No.1 Polish I gave each panel two passes before rewashing.
Loads of yellow polish dust.
The results of the correction as well as some Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze.
With the major work complete I finished the paint off with two layers of Collonite Wax, dressed the tyres and arches as well as plastic areas. I then went ahead and waxed the Anthracite mag wheels with Rim Wax before finishing off with a quick vacuum, leather moisturize and glass clean.
The results were spectacular, the following photos were taken at the end of the day.
Getting to work on such a spectacular example of a BMW classic I found this detail to be simply fantastic, the results were nothing short of Showroom Condition and I hope the Don Father was pleased.
