SERVICE/MAINTENANCE ADVICE

Greetings fellow enthusiasts,

I was hoping to pick someone's brain regarding maintenance on the old 1'r.

E82, 120d, 230 000km in the clock, still going strong. She's been getting her oil services done religiously every 10k kms, completely stock standard other than a DP. I've been mulling over what I should keep an eye on as I would honestly love to keep driving her as long as she'd let me. I'm getting myself some coolant for a flush, new air and cabin filters, she's also just had new tyres, brake pads and front discs installed.

Do the 120ds require fuel filter changes? Are they "life long" filters built into the LPFP?

I've been getting conflicting answers regarding this issue for a while now, anything else I should keep my eye on? Lookin to lean on the other high mileage owners on the forum,

Thanks in advance

At that mileage I would start looking at refreshing suspension components if needed.

I don’t see it mentioned so I assume it hasn’t been done, you can do the vibration dampener and disable the egr via software. You can do the swirl flap blanking as well.

Is the car auto? A gearbox oil change at ZF would be great too. Mileage might be too high to do anything but ZF can advise.

Ah yes, all 4 controller arms and front shocks were replaced less than a year ago, rear shocks incoming as well, set me back a fair chunk but she always seems to repay the faith!

Vibration dampener was done by the previous owner, should I look at a 2md replacement?

Auto yes, thanks for the advice, I'll start planning for a trip to ZF as soon as I get a gap!

EGR and swirl flap well noted, I've been mulling over whether to take the plunge with a mild file but been unsure.

Vibration damper, have a look at it again, if it's starting to Crack, change it out. They normally last between 100 to 150ks

Engine Mounts should be done as well

Gearknox Mounts as well

Just inspect as Avi pointed out all hoses especially coolant related to ensure they old cracked and about to fail.

Irc, you can change out the diesel filter as well.

The rest you've done already.
