Hello,
I just wanted to share some information on my 2013 F20 M135i (PWG) build. Stock it has 320hp and 450nm. Surely that is plenty in a small 1 series hatch. But more is better, right?
So the first year of ownership I started with the basics.
- JB4
- Sportcat
- Intercooler
After putting her on the dyno it made 351 hp and 580 nm of torque. Not the big improvement in power I hoped but torque had a nice bump.
So then I read about how I could get more power and since I already had the JB4 a meth kit seemed like a good addition.
This brought the power to 381 hp and 620 nm of torque. You can see the stock vs map2 vs map3 in the following dyno graph:
The torque was nice, but power fell of too much for my liking. Then few months later I heard about Pure Turbo's and they offered a Stage 1 turbo upgrade. It has a larger compressor wheel compared to stock so it should give some decent gains over my current setup. The estimate was 50 hp peak power. I also started adding in 20% ethanol in my fuel tank mixed with 80% Ron 98 fuel. I made myself a custom JB4 map6 and went back to the dyno.
I ran it on different boost settings to get a good idea about power at different settings. On the highest setting it made 447 hp and 648 nm. Which is indeed a nice bump in power. Here you can see on the graph the stage1 Pure Turbo at different power levels:
I drove this setup for 1 year and then Pure Turbo's offered me an upgrade to their new Stage 2 N55 turbo. Ofcourse I said yes and I was very excited about it. The Stage2 N55 turbo had an even bigger compressor wheel with an upgraded turbine side as well. There were of course some minor issues that came up with testing. Like the weak stock diverter valve causing a boost leak post shift. This was addressed by installing a GFB DV+ upgrade. And at around 20 psi of boost the last part of the intake system became a restriction as well. Hence we made an inlet upgrade. Then we faced some fuelling limitations which were cured by a Fuel-IT Stage2 LPFP and at first TBI and later PI injection. Here you can find a dyno comparing the 3 setups:
The green line is the meth only setup. There were fuelling limitations both midrange and up top. Hence the lower torque midrange and dip at the topend. However it will get you over 500 hp.
The black line is the TBI setup. It runs ok but I did not get the midrange dialled in.
Then the blue line is the PI setup with AIC controller that was nice to dialin. 551 hp and 775 nm is nothing to be shy off. It goes like a small rocket!
I also invested in some weight reduction parts.
- Liteblox 2280 lightweight battery
- Recaro Pole Position race seats
- Breyton GTS-R lightweight wheels
I changed suspension from OEM adaptive to KW V1 which works nice for me on our belgian roads.
Furthermore I like to do some sprinting from time to time and you can see some of my movies on my youtube channel both sprinting vs opponent and speedo videos:

I hope you like them. And if there is any questions I happily help out with advice.
Greetz,
Peter
