My Current Bimmers

Hi,these are my two cars that I presently have,a 2003 E46 M3,fantastic car,and a 1987 E30 333i.Sorry about the BnW for the M3,only one I have with me,but the car is Carbon Black.The 333i is Diamond Black,apparently relatively rare.In the past,before the M3,my cars were a 1997 328i,a 1998 328i,1999 E46 328i,2001 E46 325i Touring,2002 E46 330d (with chip,was doing in the region of 190KW and 500NM of torque),a 1997 4 door E36 M3,and then my current M3 and my 333i,so been pretty true to the BMW brand,although recent experiences with them have made me question how loyal I really should be.Anyway,they do make fantastic cars.Once the M3 is settled financially,it will be,hopefully anyway,on to a new M5 (the turbo one coming out next year) or an M3.

Uber,I actually found it in pieces in a garage in Edenvale in JHB.Was a sorry state when I got it,paid next to nothing for it as well.It needs some work, which will hopefully start once my garage is clear!Hellas, nothing on the M3 yet.I have plans to have the cat taken out,the intake redone and a chip put in.As the car stands now,she is stock standard. As you read in one of my other posts, the plan is to do a retro fit of the BMW OEM navigation system, and to perhaps put a set of 19" CSL rims on her,but other than that, she is stock. She goes well, and I got her at a good price. She has been an awesome car to drive, and to own,and still turns heads everywhere I go.The sound of a 4 pipe with that slight metallic screech as she tears past, gets the head whipping in no time.I would love a new M3,but somehow I feel the new ones just don't have the presence of the E46.The 333 is an ongoing project, with the aim being to restore it to factory spec.At the moment,it is a 3.5L conversion,as opposed to the original 3.2L out of the 733i.I have had minimal road time with the 333,its been a bit of a sticky issue, but getting there, slowly. They are both fantastic cars, and the sound of that 333 when she is purring,is something to behold. That deep throated straight 6 sound is hard to compare, and the car is an attention grabber of note, not many Diamond Black 333i's around these days. For those that are interested, she is number 156 of 204 built, was in one of the last production runs of 1987.

Your views on the E46 M3 will fit right in with Matt Q on the forum here. He is a total E46 M3 believer. GL on the restoration!

So is it true that you dont pass a filling station in the 333i, and that if you leave it running at while you filling with petrol, it just never gets full

Hellas,I had the privilege of driving the E92 M3,and that is a fantastic car,but honestly,I feel it is too technologically advanced, things to control this, and that.Don't get me wrong,it is a sublime piece of machinery, but the E46 is just that little bit more raw, like it wants to kill you if you aren't careful and treat it with respect. Two options,DSC off or on,Sport Mode, that's it,and with DSC off and Sport on,that car is just wicked. To get 252KW out of a 3.2L straight 6,it's lunacy! But it's a car I really love, and she has been very, very good to me.
As for the 333 Free, let's just say that a 70L tank get's you nowhere.I had a quarter tank in the car one time will working on it at home, and between the idling and starting and turning off,it ran out of petrol,in my driveway!I don't think it was meant to be a very frugal car with fuel consumption, and the best way to actually keep it going is to either carry spare petrol in the boot, own a petrol station close to home,or have a petrol tanker with you everywhere you go!LOL!But,the plus is,it's a 333i!

Nicholas, trust me,you would never regret it.I was sold on the car before I even started the engine, just sat in it for a couple of minutes, and knew it was the one i wanted.

LOL @ SS,it was actually for sale last year, but nobody wanted it,so I decided to keep it and completely restore it.And the sound that it makes, eish, nothing subtle about that car whatsoever!Fuzzy,I was lucky I got a Diamond Black one. From what I understand, there are less than 10 of them left in existence, the most popular colour being Henna Red.Thanks for the compliment Shady, much appreciated. :)

Not Uber?Last year in August there was an E30 hookup in Midrand which went through to Krugersdorp,in that lineup were no less than 4 333i's,all of them Henna Red.The very first one to roll of the production line was there,333i Number 1.Was in pretty good nick, but the engine had been worked with due to the condition the owner found it in,and it had racing bucket seats,so it had been altered slightly.
Uber,I was in fact, asking R40k for the car.

Eish! Thats a fair amount for a 333i but worth every penny!

Do you have any more pics of the E30? interior, engine etc.

I heard they were known for breaking engine mounts. Any truth to that?

Last question...did yours come with the aircon or power steering?
