Hi Guys
New to the BMW fanatics community! proud to finally be a part of this community. Apologies for the long read... this post begins with a story of two mates one who has always owned specifically BMW cars out of motor plan (second hand) and the other being me who has always owned new or demo vehicles with balance of plan and warranties etc as priority. long story made very short, I was convinced and enticed by the idea of owning my own BMW at a fraction of the cost and taking on the risk while ensuring I tick ever possible box regarding due diligence and checks for buying a secondhand vehicle. Enters this gem of an X3 from BMW Witbank spec'd out so well!
I am that typical guy who would spend days on end looking through Autotrader and cars.co.za for the perfect spec within my budget. I needed a new vehicle and a 20D or 30D was my preference. Wife and I test drove the 20D x3 2019 and loved everything about it except it felts quite underpowered and a bit heavy but better in motion. I drive like a typical 29-year-old as most would call it "heavy foot" considering my previously owned turbo cars non german were stage 2. Decided to test drive the 30D and it was love at first sight or should I say first drive. Immediately it felt like everything i was looking for in a drive that suited both urban decent daily driving and highway runs. Good to point out BMW Witbank drove the car out 3 hours for me in total for a test drive without even a pre approval on the car #GreatService I did explain my issue of not having a vehicle due to it being written off and Ubering everywhere. It was fantastic of them and it paid off. For my budget of R550K there were plenty 20Ds x3 and new year models with less mileage but this was the car for me. and this one came in extremely close to my budget! finding a decent 30D is really a needle in a haystack especially one with full bmw service history with NO comments and one in excellent condition. Interior and exterior of this vehicle gives no hint of the 98K mileage when I first spotted it.
There was no turning back as the 30D had injected those 195kw and 620nm into my veins upon first drive. Worth mentioning it also ticked all the boxes from a daily family car aspect and wifey was sold on it. I also got very lucky considering Mr Kev
helped me check this one out in detail after my mind was made up and guided me in terms of the dos and do nots when doing a deal for a second hand preloved vehicle. This vehicle was owned by someone who still works at the dealership who is there +20 years and was his wife's personal car, "immaculate lady owned vehicle" as most would say. also got very lucky that the vehicle always had tip top treatment from BMW in terms of services and maintenance over the years. A few of the things I love : heads up display, adaptive led headlights, HK system, 21"BMW individual wheels, front splitter and grille and the fancy display key
it came with. The extra options list on this specific vehicle really was a win for me.
I have already done the mirror gloss black x3M style covers to match the rest of the aggressive sporty looking front with the 50th heritage badges all rounds. The pics here were fresh after ceramic coating was done (including clay bar, 2 stage polish and valet) @ApexDetailing a few days ago. A business owned by my brother Emmanuel who operates in house at a few different BMW and non-BMW dealerships in JHB. The drive is effortless and feels very all rounded and premium. Having always had a family that owned a few BMWs over the years (E60 530d, e90 320i & 320d) The BMW bug had bitten for sure. Just glad to have my very own and grateful indeed that it's such a beautiful spec.
Special shout out to @KPM3_30 for all the help and inspiring me to take this step. looking forward to posting more pics and video's as I have a few things in mind for this vehicle.
"A Blessing meant for you will never miss you" sad that my previous vehicle was written off especially under the circumstances in which it happened, but I managed to level up. during the process of waiting for the settlement and fighting with OUTsurance. I lost 3 potential x3 30Ds that seemed to be the one hence the mentioned quote.
