Morribiscuit's F30 30d

Decided it's time to get my ride thread up and live!

Have already bugged a few people on the forum and gotten to know a few.

Before I get stuck in - @"admin" who do i contact for a fanatics sticker? Think that's critical.

Have had HRH [as she's been dubbed] for a WHOLE month now  :smilebounce:

Absolutely loving the car. Comfortable, responsive, good on fuel, and I think it's quite pretty for a stock car [No one make comments reminding me what Ms'2 look like #oneDay].

So far I've done just over 3k km in her. First up was a trip to Durban in December [before Oom closed the beaches] - and I've never had a car eat up Kms like she did. Good way to get to know the car! Effortless to say the least. Averaged 5.0l/100km on the way down.

At the coast well, we all know what sea air does for performance. Had some more spirited driving down there, and trips to the beach and returned a 5.9l/100km consumption for the trip down + driving around there [excuse very salty screen - NOT scratched, just sea air things].

Anyway!

Since returning from Durban, did a few service items:
- Air filter
- Oil service [as easy as can be!]
- ZF service [best customer service and professionalism around! Awesome guys. Shout out to Tumi!]

Few very small mods done so far [in pics]:
- M4 style mirror caps
- Gloss black kidney grills
- M4 style boot spoiler
- 20% rear window tint - have to say it makes a big difference with light and heat inside. Left front windows with s&g as night time with dark windows isn't fun [or legal!]

Car is busy having the exhaust done [30d cant be quiet, that's a sin!], so will add those posts in the next few days.

Undecided about how to 'finish' the front. The MP diffuser and lip is nice, but somewhat common I feel? I wouldn't mind just the lower lip section without those insets. Love to hear thoughts!

So far - BM life is good.

This is a lovely machine! Great performance and excellent fuel consumption. I don't know how BMW managed to do that, it is very impressive. That car is also one of the most reliable BMWs on the road. Well done mate on the acquisition, enjoy!

Awesome, i averaged exactly the same with consumption on a return trip to Durbs.
the 330d is meant for that kind of journey, im glad you enjoying it.

Congrats and welcome to the forum.

What amazing fuel economy figures,
I managed to get down to 12.8l/100km :)

On the front lip, if you want something different, you could add the MP spoiler but paint the parts that cover the bumper the same colour as the car, so it looks like you just have the straight lower part. If that makes sense.

Fantastic, congrats and let the modding begin! lol

Haha I promised I wouldn't...I lied.

But I don't have big plans for her, very impressive car stock.

Map & XHP later in the year.

Exhaust has just been done & it is MUCH better. Just sorting out a couple small things and then will upload some pics to the thread!

Thank you. Haha But the smiles/km is what counts ;)

Very good point. Seems a little silly though to make the side parts body colour?
Ever seen just the bottom lip sold? That could finish the middle section at the bottom as well in a nice gloss black.

Don't get me wrong - I love the MP look as is, I just need to be a little different.

If in 6 months I have the MP diffuser, you may NOT quote this post haha!

Couldn't live with how quiet the 30d was with the stock box, and wanted a much more aggressive rear, so had the exhaust done.

Exhaust was built by Black Cloud Racing. If anyone is interested in any fabrication work I'll gladly pass on details.

Car is sounding absolutely fantastic! Roars under WOT, but is almost non existant under cruising speed (car has enough sound deadening).

Very happy!

Stainless Steel 304, 76mm straight through to 101 mm dual tips

Think I want to do hubcentric spacers next. Rear in particular. Just haven't figured out how to do 15mm and get longer bolts that have a lock nut on it. If anyone has suggestions - shoot!

Two Small updates:
1. Wheel spacers fitted. Changes the stance quite drastically (when you look for it). My plan is not to lower the car anytime soon, so could go a little wider in the rear. Pics show before/after

2. Wanted the crash bar a bit more stand out. Removed the "M stripes" on the kidney grill and wrapped the crash bar yellow. Calipers will match in time to come.

Love to hear thoughts and comments!

Exhaust looks nice, gives it an aggressive look. Sure it sounds great.
Never heard of black cloud racing, where are they based?

Cheers, appreciate it! Definitely does. Stock look is super clean but a bit to subtle for my liking.

The fat pipes are rather aggressive. I like!

Black cloud is based in Boksburg. Was originally started by the gentleman who if I'm not mistaken still holds the current 1/4mile records on the Polo TDis.

They do all servicing work as well, all in house. If you need anything done, shout and I'll gladly pass on details.
