Hi. I came across this. I think the land grab issue is to be blamed here, I'll be sad to see the closure of this place. It was the only place in SA to run the 1km. Sad indeed :dunnoanymore:

We met the local Tribe leader there.
I think he even scored a ride down the strip from a member.

RCB is pulling out. That does not mean other event organisers will also pull out. Going forward I doubt that there will be much spectators attending anymore. This issue has been there for quite a while. The organisers were good at resolving the matters. I was not there on the 17th to witness what happened but I have seen issues before by the community.

The land grab thing is what has spiked this to another level. From what I understand the organisers rent the place from the chief. The community also wants in on the money. What the chief does with the money I have no idea.

Lets hope we get a new place soon. The 1km is loved by the cars with big power

I fail to See how this news is "Awesome" or "Wonderful" :dunnoanymore:

In a time when the Racing Industry (Drags) is hitting Lows - This is really bad news.

There are other Genre's in the industry like track that seem to be going strong - but the drag racing scene has experienced many blows in the past year.

Hoping for a Strong Recovery for the Drag Nation :cartel:

I have had personal experience of what happens when "the community" decides on things like this. I rode into a piece of fishing line strung across a pathway riding offroad in KZN.

Fortunately for me it was at a 45deg angle to the pathway not 90deg and it was a slowish section otherwise the result would have been very different than just a burn on my neck.

The result for the community. The local trading store where guys used to pay to park and pay local youngsters to wash bikes and cars and spend money after riding lost out cos the guys stopped going there. Almost immediately.

A shame really.......

They wont stop until everything has returned to desert.

The desert is a tranquil unmolested place, try a rubbish dump rather.

You would think they would be able to learn what happens when you landgrab from someone with the history of Zim.
