H8 ANGEL EYE BULBS

due to the nature of the design of LED rings in certain OEM BMW headlights (E90 LCI, E92, E93, . . . ) i have experimentally done some work and it looks like the best light output is attained when a HID xenon bulb is used. the halogen H8 bulb is 35W so the maximum power rated HID bulb i would use is 35W.

most customers have purchased the LED bulb for this application simply because they wanted to change the colour from yellow to white. there are no 35W led bulbs out there so you can never match the brightness of halogen with the 6W led replacement. however, the xenon brightness at 35W far exceeds that of 35w halogen. the xenon will give you the brightness and the colour you want.

as for the heat dissipation: some people believe that the 35W xenon is much hotter than the 35w halogen and that this would cause the plastic ring or housing to melt. if you agree that energy cannot be created or destroyed (this is the law of conservation of energy) and it is a fact that xenon light is brighter than halogen light then you should believe that more energy is converted into light energy than heat energy for the xenon as apposed to lesser light and higher heat for the halogen. HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE!!!

SO WHO WANTS TO ORDER A SET FOR R550?

:)

Any pics that show results VSOMAI?

Are these bulbs different in size to the stock ones? Will they fit etc?

they are made to fit in the same space as the halogen H8 bulb. the kit comes with a grommet that fits inside a 20mm diameter hole in the removable cover (the one you remove to replace the H8 bulb). the wires go through this grommet and allows you to mount the canbus ballast outside the headlight while still maintaining a sealed headlight.

wouldnt bmw freak out when they open your bonnet and see HID ballasts sitting behind the headlights? Just asking........:fencelook:

yes they will. and they will cancel your motorplan. thats why you have to do this when your motorplan expires. by the way if you change anything from OEM you stand this risk.

doesnt matter if you dont agree or believe, it is still true :)

but, it is not as simple as this, because they dont use the same light source, so you cant emperically say that because a 35W xenon is brighter than a 35W halogen, the xenon is cooler.

Hi VSOMAI

I had done this on my car last year, I think. I installed GP Thunders, H8, 35w, 12v bulbs, they are 8500k, HID, in plasma white, they
work perfect, no error codes.

Is this similar to what you are selling?

not quite what i am referring to. the GP thunder ones do not have ballasts.

Might be interested, but need to see how bright these are. Mine are not so bright under daylight, but was the sun sets they are better than the stock yellow ones. If I can see some pics on a car fitted, I can make a call on whether to purchase?

According to E90Post some of these HID Angel Eye kits can actually make your low beams obsolete. They are bright enough to drive around at night. Not sure if these are as bright but it's possible.

they might be bright, but would never be able to make low beams obsolete, which are able focus light :)

True, nothing beats xenons in a proper projector housing
I was merely referring to the brightness:flyfun:
