I have so many mixed feelings about THIS,

For example what happens when the State fails to pay the commercial banks?

Will the department of home affairs hold your passport or blacklist it until such a time that you are done paying the loan?

Payments to carry on for as long as possible... With the price of a basic degree then that means pay until you are retired so we are forever in Debt.

Who pays for the written off amount?

Also the rand has reacted to this in a rather negative way.

It stops when the goose is dead. Dead dead dead.

As Magaret Thatcher once said socialism is great until the government runs out of other people's money to spend. We're rapidly getting there.

What angers me is the entitlement mentality. "Its my right to go to university even if I can't pay for it."

My dad didn't go to university because my grand parents couldn't afford it. My brother went to university and got a Maritime Law Masters degree. He took a loan and worked nights to pay off his loan.

But ya.... every one has the right to go to university these days whether they can afford it or not

The problem is that the ANC promised them free education, so I was told. Not sure how true this is and I stand to be corrected

The cANCer promised a lot of things that are pipe dreams in any country let alone one where the tax base is small and shrinking.

When they have "redistributed the wealth" (So called) then what? What's the next plan ?
