E46 325TI Compact

It's probably time that I update this thread as well.

As mentioned in my other thread, I have decided to rather keep this vehicle as my daily and rather use another vehicle as a toy. The 325ti is quite unique and I really do enjoy the vehicle as a daily.

Quite a few things have happened in the interim since the last time I have updated this thread.

During end of Feb, I was heading home from work and I noticed that my temp guage is above 90c. Quickly pulled up the digital temp and saw that it's running around 113c. I immediately knew it was the thermostat so I drove home slowly and parked off. Went onto the BMW CIA system and saw that BMW Menlyn has stock of said thermostat. Quickly shot over to them and picked up a new unit. The next morning I installed the new thermostat and upon testing the temps were back to normal and the car was running excellent!

I then got a set of 10mm spacers from Firi which I installed at the back. Quite happy with the look.

This weekend I decided to commit to doing the Vanos. I order a new Vanos rebuild kit from X8R in the UK a while ago.

I have done about 400km after rebuilding the Vanos and I'm happy to report that the low down torque has improved quite a bit. My fuel consumption seems lower as well, will revert with feedback as I drive the car more.

I'm planning on giving the car a nice detail today. Will post some pics tonight.

Took some pictures this afternoon after getting some supplies from the store.

17-years and 186000km later and she's still up and about.

Really good looking. I really wish BMW made an M model in this shape. I think it's very unique.
Thanks for the kind comments sir.

I believe we had a few "M-sport" models within SA.

I've seen a few builds overseas where the oke's go fullout M3 on these chassis. This was my goal, until I started seeing the numbers and it got immensely high real fast.

Evening all.

Even though I'm working online from 7-4, I'm still bored at home and decided to do some small things.

I've been meaning to clean my lights and fixing up some clips on the front bumper. Below pictures will explain the rest.

Please excuse the messy room, had to work in my room while I stay online. Left done, right not done as yet.

I cleaner the bumper, realigned all the bottom plastics and got everything back together and this was the end result.

Hey guys,

Hope you are all keeping well?

After the maintenance done in the beginning of the lockdown, I haven't done much to this car.

She's super reliable, keeps me entertained and the Polo has taken all my time it seems.

With the recent start of my YouTube channel, I thought I would do a video on this car. After all, it's still my favorite car out of the two that I own.

Gave her a wash, took her to Menlyn parking lot and made a video of her.

If you guys want to check it out, link down below.

Update on maintenance -

The car is actually due for an oil service and I want to replace brakes all round. I recently got a bit of a vibration under harsh braking and I don't want to mess around and just replace things bit by bit.

Other than the above, there is not a single issue and I guess she'll last me for some time to come.
