hey guys,
due to the high request for E90 projector retrofitting, i have done one myself.
THIS IS THE FIRST EVER AND IT IS POSTED RIGHT HERE ON BMWFANATICS.CO.ZA
i found a PRE-LCI E90 halogen headlight in the scrapyard and did some experimenting on it.
using a heatgun and a set of screwdrivers i removed the lens as carefully as i could with very little damage.
i then measured up to see what shroud will fit inside there with a projector. some pics of the headlight without the lens
i then installed the Morimoto H1 Mini projector. it comes with a H7 adapter and bolt-on mechanism which is perfect because this headlight bulb is for H7.
i then found a compatible shroud which is the same as the E46 one and checked how to modify it. i had to grind it a bit for it to clear the bowl for the bright bulb. see pic below
i then installed the shroud and took more pics of the headlight with the projector and shroud but without the lens:
i then placed the lens back on to see if the clearances were OK and took more pics:
overall it looks good. all that is left to do is clear off the dry glue from the edges, heat and push back the plastic over the lens, and use SIKAFLEX silicon to re-seal the headlight.
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF IT?
