Howzit Everyone
So haven't updated this is way too long, probably because I didn't have anything good to update, so here goes.
Back in Jan 2022 after our holiday got back home and wanted to drive the ti a bit, so warmed her up to temp and just drove around. Finally finding a nice stretch of road and put the car in launch control and gunned it, but that didn't last long as I was greeted with drivetrain error on the idrive screen and limp mode.
So I switched off, and back on again an issue still there, so drove home, scanned the car and it said misfire on cylinder.
Great so I book it in at BMW West Rand, so they scanned and gave me the same issue of the misfire on cylinder, so they replaced the injector, coil pack and spark plug, and one vacuum hose was damaged (how I do not know), but the issue was still there.
So they send everything to Germany or so I was told, and came back to me and said they are replacing the engine, so I agreed and weeks later it was done and they changed the reg docs everything with the new engine number, so all good. But when collecting the car I spoke to the technician and he said the injector over fueled and burned a hole in the piston.
Car was going strong and I was fairly happy, as I hate driving a car that was in an accident and this felt like it was with the engine replacement.
So months and 3000km later, I start car at the office and feel straight away that idling is off, so drove it and not even 10km further drive train error and limp mode again, so now the frustration level is through the roof.
Called BMW on call and they towed the car the BMW West Rand, so now they check and no compression on Cylinder 1, so engine replacement again, now I was not to happy with the first so I will not drive a car with 2 engine replacements, so I contacted BMW SA, and after some discussions etc they agreed that I will get a new car.
I must say BMW West Rand went out of their way for me, as I always had a courtesy car, 330i, 420i, X3 2.0D xdrive and 318i.
Pictures of the new 128ti will follow
