Annother E90

Howzit guys.

To all that have helped me in the hunt and for all their opinions and assistance, I salute you.

Took me a while but I finally decided to start a thread as I will be needing to ask some questions soon and I don't want everything to be all over the place. If however this is not the right place for that( still trying to work out what's what on here) please move this to wherever it needs to be.

So to give a little insight, end of the year 2017 came along and I decided all though being thrown into it, that it is time to trade up on my 2009 vw polo 1.4. yes I know let's all point and laugh. Anyways, decided to look around and found something interesting, and hence me joining the forum.

Long story short, I ended up with a nice upgrade in my opinion, a 2010 E90 320d lci in space grey. And yes, To my amusement, I'm loving it! All ready had some fun with it. 7 days after purchase, the aircon compressor packed up, apparently the place I bought it from aren't interested because of yada yada. . . So aftermarket warranty to the rescue.

The dealership also had some backyard plumber change the amp in the car because of a whine through the speakers. Really a shoddy job was done. Wires were chopped and stuck with masking tape, amp was just shoved behind the carpet and the original cover for above the amp, magically dissapeared. So that was the first thing on the to do list. While taking the amp out to redo everything, I noticed it was a used amp as well. So that had to go. Replaced it with a starsound Hazzard amp and voila. Perfect!

Next up was a service. Which was apparently done prior to delivery, uhm. If the oil is black and looks like tar, I think not. New oil, and filters, including fuel filter, just for that extra piece of mind.

Same day started the cleaning, I requested not to have a valet done as I am not a fan of the steam carpet cleaning. And seeing that I had to wait 3 weeks for the car( yes it was used, and yes it was in the showroom) I didn't want to wait an extra day for the valet. So I took off whatever I could. Bottom covers, bumpers, side sills, engine covers. Some clean green and about 6 hours with a pressure washer. All looked much better to my liking.

That was it for so far apart from the speakers I replaced and all the interior lights replaced with LEDs. Mine also didn't come with the under dash lights so a retrofit was in order.

This is my daily, I travel from pmb to dbn daily and back. Average km per month is about 4500-5500 depending. So far with my, uhm "gracious" driving, I'm getting about 750km per tank. Which I'm not too bothered about. . . Yet.

Anyways as always thanks for stopping by.
Any suggestions will be more than welcome.
Performance mods will come at a later stage.

Happy wheeling guys.

You know what, that actually looks really good.

It's the perfect colour for an e90 IMHO.

Also, it looks like you're off to a good start tackling all the maintenance. Look after it and it will look after you.

Congrats on the car.

Thanks so much for the compliment.

I have always looked after my cars. Grease and dirt to me is better than to.

Thanks again.
Safe travels!

Nice, welcome. I assume you don't like people adjusting your aircon vents? :biglol:

Thanks for the great responses! Really appreciate it!.

SubLoaded: I bought the car like that and I can't really find just those little clip things. PS, you notice damn small things. Lol.

BeemerFanatic: thanks man, loving the clean feeling so far. Speakers I used just normal 4 inch Sony for the front and rear. Just used washers on the original mounts to hold the speaker in right. Some foam tape to cover the tiny gap on the side of the speaker.

Nobz330i: Thank you. To be honest when I first saw the car I wasn't very happy with the color. Even when I bought her I still wanst happy but didn't wanna loose out as this was literally the only 320d in pmb. Was planning on getting it wrapped but after a few hours and a full turtlewax jobby. She looks pretty decent for an 8 year old car.

Thanks again guys. Really appreciate it.

PS, can anybody advise me how to reply to more than 1 comment at a time

It seems like a common thing. My previous E90 had one missing and it wasn't yanked hard or anything. A small adjustment and it just fell off. Literally.

Great forum this. One can literally take a whole car apart and put it back together on this group.

Thanks for taking the time to send me the link. Need to find someplace that sells those clips. Agents just laugh at me and try and sell the entire unit. Scrappers want me to buy the whole unit, for about 3 kidneys and a part of a liver. Ex-vat.. .

I found one under the seats but won't look good with just 1 so I'll wait till I can find more. . . Removing the rubber off the interior door handles today as I'm not a fan of that chappie like feeling.

Small question to add on. Is there anyone in SA that sells, or knows where to get the inpa cable? Looked online but I'm not a fan of the Chinese knock off, or the long delivery time. Just think it's a great add to the toolbox. . . Failing which. Anybody in pmb that can do a tiny bit of coding for me?

Thanks all

Howzit guys.

I need some input before I screw everything up.

My car has gotten to the point now where im happy with the maintenance, and I've started thinking about doing a dp. This is were the confusion comes in. I've scratched around but honestly haven't found a clear answer.

I had my engine bay stripped up the other day for it's bi weekly cleaning and somehow realised that I have no oxygen sensors, or any sensors for that matter on my dpf.

This raises the question. . . Do I still need to get a map done straight after the dp or will it be good to go until funds appear for that. Or do I still need dp and software done same time?

If I only do the dp and no software, what happens when the car does a Regen? Sorry for the daft questions, just dont want issues. . .

Next thing, while I get the dp done. . . What else can I do to sort the tractor noise out? Not a big fan of the hollow revving in sport mode, sounds like a learner in an atos or something. . .

Looking to do all this now as I've done the 10000 km ( yes 6 weeks) since I've had it and I think it's time for some personal touches. . Plus service at the same time.

Last question. . . Anybody know where I can get the bottom engine cover, and the one cover in the boot(covering the stock amp) dealers here don't seem interested and so far I can only find one 330i in pmb at the scrappers, not a great fan of scrappers anyways as it just feels wrong.

Anyways. Thanks guys. All input welcome.

Have a good one

Saw that color and I thought this is very much a printer salesman descent looking none shouty color, then I scrolled down and saw this
