'94 e36 Alarm problem

Hi

I've got a slight issue with the alarm on my BMW. I've got 2 original keys. I have replaced the batteries on both keys and both keys were working fine. I was able to lock and unlock the car with no issues.

I was reading through the owners manual and decided to try out the feature to reprogram the keys. I followed the procedure, and somehow have now "unprogrammed" a key. I took the car past BMW and the guys there aren't able to reflash the key either. We follow the directions step by step with no luck.

One thing I've noticed is the alarm light on the centre console constantly stays lit. Weather the car is armed or not the light never switches off or flashes. Does anybody know why it would do this? I've tried unplugging the car battery to see if it makes any difference but it does not.

If I arm the car and a few minutes later open a door the alarm is triggered and the siren goes off.

Anybody have any ideas what is going on with my alarm? I am thinking this light that's constantly on has something to do with why I can't reflash my key, but I'm confused as the alarm also seems to be working correctly.

I'd appreciate any advice/ideas I could get.

Here's a picture of the light on the centre console I'm referring to.

After pushing the lock button on the remote my 1996 328i will flash that led for say 20 flashes at 1 second intervals then flashes at 3 or 4 second intervals . Don't know why your light stays lit though . Good luck .
