So this was where I was at a few months ago....I ended up buying the polo for R23k due to not being able to find a decentish MT

https://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=54768

Sorry I'm just going to paste the first bits of my thread from the gti club.

I feel I underestimated the cost of the work on this car.ATM it's looking like I'll need another R5k just to get it to pass COR.I didn't plan very well because now it looks like I won't be able to cover the entire cost without borrowing. Its either I borrow some cash from my parents or I sell stuff.I've been searching around for some good prices on spares and so far I have come across some good deals.

All the faults that I can remember

Cv joints
Engine mount
Gearbox mount
Ball joints
Bushes
Torn gear boot
Torn seatbelt
Hooter not connected
Fender indicators not working
Reverse lights that working
Front RHS light not working
Rear RHS rim is warped
Passenger door doesn't open from outside

Things that have been done
All 4 tires
Water pump
Welsh plugs
Cam belt
Hazards
Wheel bearings
Powerflow exhaust lol
Window mechanism
Driver seat rails

As mentioned before the car needs a polish aswell as attention to the fine mist of spray covering my door panels. The car doesn't overheat but the temp goes up to just under 100 when the fan kicks in so I'll change the thermostat and see if it helps.I also want to do the aerial and get another steering wheel at a later stage. While waiting at the COR place I was looking at my car and noticed there are two different mirrors on it hence I couldn't see anything in the LHS mirror.

Once I sorted the car out mechanically and put it through COR and do the licencing ect I would like to send it for a full valet. My door panels are covered in a fine mist of white paint from when it was sprayed,I'm not sure what to use to remove it.Also the dash and plastics are very dull and depressing.

Its abit early to discuss mods but exterior wise I would like
-bonnet bra
-laminx'd fogs with grille inserts
-blackout on the pillars
-smash and grab
-laminx'd angel eyes and tails
-coilovers(I plan on grounding it)

Rim wise I'm still thinking about it.I don't want to go 17s.I'm definitely going deep dish.I was thinking of 16inch black borbets but the black and white look has been over done.I was thinking of 15inch 2 step bbs in green.I know in my mind the specific stance I want.

Interior wise I want to replace the missing trim for the cupholder and I want to refurb my current steering wheel.I was thinking of velo seats aswell and I think I want to remove the back seats lol.I have so many things I wanna do but I'm on a student budget.I pay for my own sh*t so mods isn't really a priority at the moment.Luckily I have time but I may sell it later this year,I'm undecided.

I'm hoping I can fix every single fault I mentioned by Dubrun atleast.

Lmao but ey you just gotta LOL at ous who come with shovas about how they done this and that to try and impress people.I say "don't spend money you don't have buying things you can't afford to impress people who don't give a fark."

Dirty pictures hahaha

Tractor stance homie

Today I got my interior light sorted and washed it....

Mind my dirty shoe...

Pic of my red globe,it didn't give the effect I was hoping for,I wanted the entire interior to be lit up...

Most recent pics

Needs low now...

Not sure what colour laminx I should buy....

There's still a lot of work I need to do but I'm happy for now.The mods I've done so far include...

-wrapped pillars and badge
-audiobank HU(was a gift lol) and targa 6x9s
-bonnet bra
-red interior led globe
-powerflow back box
-door pins

It's not much but I hope you enjoy!:fencelook:

Congrats bro, its good to see a university student make it happen for himself, what i can suggest is, get a second set of stock springs and compress them (yes i know it isnt the best option but its cheap) and later you can get a set of coilies, also this car is a millennium ed which is cool, you can probably sell it for over 30k now. I had one of these so i know alot of the things that give issues on these cars, pm me if you need any help, also test your brake lights as mine just stopped working and i never got round to fixing them, i sold the car like that. lol

I've abandoned the idea of lowering it for now,I'm busy with exams at the moment so I haven't had the time to do any work.my rear shocks are buggered properly, the rear is very bouncy and you can feel the car wobble from side to side whenever I hit a bump in the road so I'll need to replace those.i feel I should sell it as is but I will see.

I did change the globes in the back and front but for some reason only half of rear RHS works so I need to check that out.i understand I can't expect the money that I put in back but I'm just hoping I get a decent offer.

Cars that I'm considering as a replacement
-sentra 200sti
-corolla RSI
-e36 320/23/25/28i
-citi

I was considering a vr6 but I think it will be part to maintain on a student budget:rollsmile:
