angry UPS SA service
Hay Guys,

I just need to vent little. I ordered parts for my car from Turner Motorsports last week Thursday. On Friday I get a call from UPS SA to confirm my ID number for the the import documentation and get told my parts will be arriving on Saturday and they will give me a call on Monday morning to confirm the delivery details.

So on Monday no call, but I think that is fine tracking still states delivery before end of day on Tuesday.

Tuesday, no delivery and I start getting upset.

Yesterday I give them a call to find out what is going on, and they inform me there is a query on my duty's and I need to speak to a different department about it and get transferred by the operator, 47 min of holding I need to go into a meeting and hang up.

After the meeting I call again and get a direct number to the department, the phone just rings until it cuts off.

I call the original line again and get informed I need to pay R16xx to clear the package from customs, I tell them it is fine just get moving on the job.

This morning I call them again and get informed that customs typically take 24-48 to respond, but I need to keep in mind they have a massive backlog at the moment. I then loose my sh@t over the phone a little.

I am so pissed, if someone just informed me on Monday like they said they would the process could have started already and I would have most likely had my package by now. Worst of all is they do not inform you at all of the hold up, I have not even received the invoice like they promised yesterday as well. It took 2 days for it to get from Ohio to Kempton, and who knows how long it will still take to just get delivered.

Anyway sorry for the rant.

Is this a normal procedure when importing things or have some of you guys importing things had better experiences?

RE: UPS SA service
I dont think the issue is UPS, i think the issue is with the backlog and inefficiences at South African Customs....

Think about it, the item arrived in South Africa in a few days...the issue is when it gets here and doesnt get cleared etc etc

RE: UPS SA service
I hear you, The problem is not with UPS global, the fact remains that UPS South Africa was aware that there was a need for me to confirm the amount I needed to pay, yet no-one contacted me to inform me. Thus I still believe the service of South African branch of UPS is to blame as they could have started the process on Monday already and not waited for me to call them before informing me.

RE: UPS SA service
I'm very new to this, but I've just started a business and we've used Cargo Compass for the first shipment which just arrived. I had a good experience with them.

UPS SA service
TNT Terrible service.
Staff is arrogant!
I realised fighting with them is not going to help my case.
DHL Is way more professional and upfront.

RE: UPS SA service
Thanx for the feedback on what courier to use, I only had the option of Fed Ex, UPS and USPS as this was what the site used. Will not use them again that's for sure.
