Yeah this. Most areas close to the CBD aren't as safe as it used to be.

Try for Milnerton areas too. Bothasig isn't too far off either.

RE: Moving to the Western Cape
Gents thanks for all the help.

Century city was the overwhelming favorite from people's suggestions but my wife and I are leaning toward a place in Royal Ascot.

The space and parking situation in century city wasn't ideal for us.

It's a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom place. Sending a friend over tomorrow morning to check it out.

6km from my work and 14km from her work.

Asked a few people we know about the area and they seem to think it's a good choice.

We haven't signed a lease agreement yet so if there is anything I haven't considered about the area let me know.

Thanks again everyone. Ty

RE: Moving to the Western Cape
I stay in Royal Ascot, and quite honestly I don't see myself moving.
Love the area. No Thoroughfare and quite honestly prefer it to Century as well as other areas I have stayed in.

Quiet and family oriented area.

All the best with the move!

Let me know when you settled in, join in on some events down here and we can definitely hookup! Thumbs

Thanks bro! Will definitely join in on the events. Enjoyed quite a few here in JHB and hoping to enjoy the events there as well.

We are just waiting for the agent to do their credit checks and we will probably go for this place. Thanks for the suggestion though

RE: Moving to the Western Cape
Ladies and Gents,

So my move happens on the 1st of Feb. My house contents will then be delivered on the 4th. Most moving companies pick up on a Thursday and Friday and their delivery is on a Monday or Tuesday.

Hopefully the information below assists someone in the near future
We went with a company called Keymoves. They were not the cheapest but they moved another person that I know and he was happy with the level of service. Heard some horror stories recently with smaller moving companies, and always look for companies registered with PMA (professional movers association)

For a 2 bedroom flat with a few items from a small storeroom and balcony, including 3 cars was R39k. Quotes went up to R65k (Stuttafords). Pickfords were at R57k.

The 3 cars ended up being R15k in total. Some guys mentioned about 3K a car but the cheapest I got at 1 point was "to anywhere carriers" which was R4200 per car and prices went up to R6k with other companies. VDS even asked for make and model for each car and priced all 3 differently.

I didn't take out any extra insurances as the move is covered by my insurance company (Santam) as long as the items are professionally packed by the moving company. The cars are comprehensively covered even when towed or on the truck.

Also thanks once again to those that gave me advice and commented in this thread, it really helped. As I said, I hope this assists someone in the future as well because I was slightly overwhelmed initially but once you guys pointed me in the right direction it became easy.

Flying in on the 3rd. After that, we can definitely meet up. I'll be at Equini lifestyle centre so it is actually quite close to you.

I also hear the car scene is made up of quite a few more naturally aspirated vehicles than up in JHB. Honda's and Toyota's. Will be fun to see!Cartel
