E90 Shock Replacement Options
Hi Guys,

I need some advice please.

I am currently driving an e90 320i manual, 2011 model. I took it in to have alignment and balancing done and irregular tyre wear was detected on the Bridgestones. I was advised by Errol at Bridgestone to have the suspension and shocks tested which I did earlier today and was informed that my front shocks and stabilizers need replacing and that the rear shocks are borderline.

What are the best replacement shocks for this vehicle other than the OEM units? I have been quoted R23k by SMG Tygervalley to replace the shocks dunno anymore.

By the way, it is not an M Sport. How

RE: E90 Shock Replacement Options
As mentioned, Koni or Bilstein..

You could always call a few spares shops and check what Monroe/Gabriel/SACHS sell for as well, for a price comparison.

Axis sells the Koni ones, they're on the vendor list. Great price too.

@Moranor@axis has left the country and clearly the forum too, haven't seen any posts from Sean in ages... Looks life the Kiwi life is keeping him busy TiptoeRollsmile

Not sure who has taken over Axis orders, if anyone.

RE: E90 Shock Replacement Options
I did my rear shocks 3 weeks ago.
Didn't want to spend a lot, so I got Bilsteins from Hi Q in wilgeheuwel.
If I recall I spent around R2700 with alignment included. I believe the fronts cost more. Im no suspension fundi, but im happy with the ride.

I added Koni STR.T on my M Sport. All-in including labour, mounts and stabilizers cost about +-R8500. Car drives much better too.

Bilstein B4 are an OEM replacement. Shocks alone we under R6k (closer to R5k I think). You won't go wrong with either option.

I am also leaning towards getting shocks, mounts and stabilizers done, the car should then be sorted for the rest of my ownership duration in terms of suspension.

I will shop around for prices a bit and probably get it done early next year.

E90 Shock Replacement Options
Non-msport:
Koni str-t
Bilstein b4
Bilstein b6 (upgrade)

Msport
Bilstein b4 sport
Koni str-t (will work but from my understanding they will sit preloaded as they come in one length. Which us while Bilstein have two options for the b4s.)
Bilstein b8 (upgrade)
Koni sports (upgrade)

For a 320i I would look at the Koni str-ts or the b4s.
