Abandoned cars at Gautrain station - including a Z4 M !

So apparently people leave their cars at the Gautrain station parking lot for years.
One of these has been here 7 for years. That's R30 a day times 365 days times 7 years.
You do the maths.
The parking ticket now cost more than the car.

There are quite a few.. People go missing, leave the country.. Seems to be no rule/enforcement at the station to remove the cars, they just chill there.. Indefinitely

Like Dubai Airport! I remember seeing such nice and rare cars parked off , and when ever I went back the same car in the same position . I know they towed some out and parked them in a field . Most probably like in the UAE , these cars were purchased on lease or loan , owner left the car and payments and left the country or R30 per day storage is cheap haha

Current Cars
16 BMW F30 320i B48 LCI Automatic
02 BMW E46 318i N42 LCI Automatic

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think there is a max penalty for "losing your ticket". So if there was any way to acquire the car (legally of course) you can just say you don't have the ticket and pay the penalty of lets say R2000?

Some people don't ride because they want to live. I ride because I want to live a little more...

In SA, you cant go to jail from unpaid debts for your house, car, credit card etc.

In the UAE you can, hence why people just abandon cars, fleeing the country before they are jailed for unpaid debts.

Surely if these SA cars were bonded by SA banks they would have been able to track and/or repossess them from the carparks? Makes you ask why would someone leave their fully paid off car in a carpark for so long?

Only conclusion I can come to is they were also fleeing (but potentially from something else other than debt), or they passed away while on international holiday or something.

Nope. Because they have cameras at the boom of most places.
So when you tell them that you lost your ticket, they ask for your number plate and search the database, find out what time you arrived, make you pay for the time that your car was there, and the fee for a lost ticket.

I don't know how far the database can go, so maybe they won't be able to trace these cars.

If you wanted to get your friends car out, all you need to do is the following:

1. Park your car (lets say its an X3)
2. pay the x3 ticket, use it to get the Z4 out (thats been standing)
3. go to admin office, saying you lost your X3 ticket
4. Pay minimum fee - bye

Edit: unless they have biometric cameras, pairing your ticket info to your numberplate (which I doubt), this should work.
