RE: Tyre Review Nfera Su4- “Premature”
I have 235/40/18 Nexen AU5s in front with no problems. My Continental SC3 265s at the rears are almost out and will be replacing with the same AU5s.

RE: Tyre Review Nfera Su4- “Premature”
An overdue update on the Nexens SU4's

Based on my Previous experience where I opted to use Bridgetstone RFTs and the Nexen SU4s non rfts..

Fitting mixed tires is a definite No No( Rfts and Non Rfts). This changes the steering and handling drastically and seriously compromises the stability of the Car... As soon as I changed my front tires to matching SU4's as the rears I could not believe how huge difference it had made and the car felt proper again.

If you have worn Rfts Rears and good Front Rfts, I suggest you replace all 4 to non rfts and not do the half and half approach.

Nexen SU4's Review

Rears - 7000kms
Front - 3000kms

For a budget tire these tires are really good actually Brilliant for the price. My comparison against the Bridgestone RFT A050 I had previously.

Grip and Cornering - excellent - Slow corners driven hard and twisty they hold pretty well before letting the arse end loose, took them up to 200km/h
Road Noise - excellent
Wet - Good - Bridgestone better not by much though.
Ride quality - excellent Soft and bit spongy - compared to RFTS...not as harsh on bumpy roads.
Braking - Good even under harsh braking - found it to be slightly weaker than Bridgestone..tends to stop with a bit of a squeal even with ABS.

They are a bit Soft and the grip is really good with suggests a softer tire compound you will most likely get less mileage on them .

For the Price of under R5k for 4 tires compared to Bridgestones they really good bang for your buck.

Please note this is my personal experiences and by no means a professional review or testing.

RE: Tyre Review Nfera Su4- “Premature”
Hi Guys
I had the exact same issue.
Changed the rears on my 320d 255 x 35 x 18 and kept the front on Run flats.
Car felt scary and was all over the place.
Went back to Mintys changed the front 2 tyres as well to non-rft and never looked back.
Got the exact same tyres, Nexens su4 and not one issue.
I'm doing about 35 000kms and car drives perfect.

Using these on my car, excellent tyres for the money, actually way better than expected. I'd stick with them going forward if their pricing remains competitive.

RE: Tyre Review Nfera Su4- “Premature”
I did not believe the reviews and the sales pitch from Mintys.....so I tried them out on my X5. Put them on 2 other cars after that, there's no catch, they're really good tires. A bit of a soft compound so less life, but that makes them quieter as well.

RE: Tyre Review Nfera Su4- “Premature”
Hi Guys

This weekend while claying my car i noticed a nice big nail in my rear tire.

I have been waiting for my tires to finish to make the move from run flats to the Nfera Su4.

I asked the owner of the kwik fit for a quote on run flats and non run flats. when i mentioned non run flats he proceeded to non recommend non run flats as my car comes with run flat rims which have a higher lip to keep the run flat in place.

So he said i run the risk of a normal tire coming off the rim, and he has encountered this from a few bmw owners Skit

Ive been waiting for my tires to finish and change all 4 to the Nexen's non run flats. But before i do, i wanted to check with you guys who have made the change to non run flats:

How have the Nfera's held up? have they handled fine with hard or aggressive driving? on long trips with heavy load, have they held up fine?

This higher lip theory doesn't make sense to me as logically a higher lip should actually aid in keeping a Normal tire in place, rite?

I have a E90 M sport with 225/40/18 and 255/35/18

So he said i run the risk of a normal tire coming off the rim, and he has encountered this from a few bmw owners Skit - HE IS TALKING SH1T SIMPLE AS THAT

You can mix run flats and non runflats. Its just not the best idea. I'm doing it at the moment because I'm cheap Rofl

Have non runflats on the back so I have a slightly tail happy car at the moment Rollsmile

ok good to know.

so the consensus is that it is safe and worry free to port non run flats on our Msport run flat spec rims.

time to get quotes on the Nexens then.
Ora actually, first need to find a tire for the marie biscuit spare lol

I got a price from Minty's Midrand yesterday over the phone. For an Idea of cost. R5.5k balanced, fitted and aligned.

I also watched this video and wondered whether I should spend more on better Tyres. This guys words shouldn't be taken as gospel but I had a close call this morning where a bakkie came to a complete halt in front of me to give another car a gap in front of him on the M1 south this morning. I have Bridgestone Potenza RE050 on my car and they saved me while I wasn't concentrating completely. I probably stopped within a metre of the guy but it woke me upRollsmile

Question is how are these Nexens under harsh braking?
