RE: Falken is SHIT!!
I'm using 912's on the 540 no issues. Must be said I burst now & again to let the big girl fill her lungs every now & again but I don't do any sustained high speeds for long periods of time.

Honda CB400 - For the traffic
Fiesta RSI SWR Conversion - For the school run
E36 328i Convertible - For the summer time
E39 540i - For Soul /o(O)(O) \ (illlllllll) (llllllllli) / (O)(O)o\

This is further confirmed by the fact that there are patches worn down instead of uniform wear like in the case of too much negative camber.

I see that you have also lowered the car abit with the H&R springs. Sometimes, even when using the best of springs out there, the suspension geometry changes and can induce 'Bump Steer'. This means that while your suspension is compressing, the alignment settings including the Toe, fluctuate continuously and can result in terrible tyre wear as you've experienced

As a short term solution, I would dial in a little more Toe in up front and monitor wear for the next few thousand km...Also...replace the tie rod ends and rack ends on the steering.

Long term you might want to either look at some sort of bump steer correction or alternatively go back to the stock springs.

If the car is left as is, no matter what tyre you put on there...it will probably wear down the same way.

good explanation man. makes sense now

RE: Falken is SHIT!!
The following is some more proof of how crap Falkens are.

Over December, myself and company attended a track day.

I had these really old Michelins that cried out for a beating. So they were asking for it. Str8pimp
And I didn’t want to ruin the new front Yokohamas on the M pars.

So for comparison, this is how the Michelins in front looked after the track day:

Held up pretty well I would say.

Unfortunately not so much can be said from the Falkens on the rear of the same car:

Look how they ripped themselves to pieces. Chunks of tyre came apart.

Once that helmet slides over your head, any tyre becomes track use compatibleCrazylaugh

RE: Falken is SHIT!!
Surely any tyre out of balance pushed hard on a track can end up like that...

Never used falkens. Always stuck to the premium brand. Although I heard fairly decent stuff about them.

Fordkoppie, I'll show you what premium brand tyres look like when used on a GTi performance course at Kyalami.

Wow. Are those the assymetric 2s? They are awesome street tyres though.

The first 4 looks normal for track use, but I still cant believe how the ones in the wet turned out

RE: Falken is SHIT!!
Yes Asymmetric 2's and Bridgestone s001's. They both show the same degradation. Street tyres and track time do not go well together.

The semi's on my ex 1M did not look half bad after a full track day at Kyalami.

Look, don't get me wrong, I will not fit Falkens on any of my cars, not even the Toyota Tazz.

After 1 full track day at Kyalami.

RE: Falken is SHIT!!
I believe you get what you pay for, and this is proof why premium or top branded tyres are priced so high compared to "budget" tyres.
