Wheel size change
#1
Hi All,

I have a 645ci with 245/40/19 on the front and 275/35/19 on the back. Is it possible/advisable to change these to be the same front and back and reduce the size to 18" or do you have to stick to different sizes on each end?

Thanks,
H

Now im sure there are many others on here that will give better advice, but im sure the narrow and wide setup is to aid stability at high speeds, and to try reduce the diameter is also not such a good idea, as the car has been programmed to read a certain circumfrence wheel. You might be able to go one inch down in size, but you would have to increase to the profile of the tyres...
Cartel Injection is cool, but i'd rather be blown! Cartel

245/50R18 and 275/40R18 would be closest to your current diameters and widths if you moved to 18's.

My father has the same car & he has 245/45/18 all around.
As far as I know, those are stock mags/tyres so you can't go wrong with that setup.
Personally I'd go with a narrow/wide setup as the V8 would prefer some grip at the back.
As for high speed stability, my fathers car sticks to the road like crazy... I actually find it quite boring Fencelook
You don't feel the speed in bigger cars, especially if it's an auto.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. According to the BMW marketing material the standard spec for the 645ci is 245/45/r18 off the floor. I have found an online retailer who is super cheap so I might just stick with the current setup (R15000 for a complete set of Potenza RE050A RFT 245/40/19 and 275/35/19).
