Throwing stars polished lip or not?

RE: Throwing stars polished lip or not?
You've gone to all this trouble to restore your M5 to standard spec. To achieve this, you have, amongst other things, now secured the stock M5 rims. Why then move away from standard spec rim colour?Iono

Str8pimp
I voted Stock silver, but I see ALLOT of guys is saying go the black with pollished lip route...
Now my concern with this is that almost every 2nd other car, from a Corsa to a golf, from a tazz to a ford is running this type rim look, so I have to agree with ajm on this one... Thumb

RE: Throwing stars polished lip or not?
That is awesome news!!!

I see now with my vote that it is currently a tie between stock silver and Black with polished lips. For more original overall look, stock silver, and also does look good. But, black with polished lip does look good on a white car!!! Inlove

Because I already have the BMW 20 Jahre motorsport edition front door handles, so I figured why not the matching wheels. It's not a non-BMW look they did actually make some throwing stars like this.

The wheels I bought are not stock they are already polished lips with Anthracite/slightly gold colour. Now the wheels are in good nick, but not the star covers so the easiest thing right now is just to paint the star covers otherwise I have to paint the whole wheel.

I do understand what you are saying and I will at some stage do them silver or if I ever sell the car it's going totally stock but whilst I cannot find the proper front bumper anywhere I may as well have some fun in the meantime. It's just a little paint.

I have also been way too conservative with every car I have owned for the last 25 years I'm just enjoying making something I like for a change.

Black hides character according to me. You can't see any lines or contours from just a few meters away. It absorbs all the light and certainly doesn't boast its design. IMO, you might as well be putting anything with a polished dish cos from a distance away, they are look the same unless there is a significant size difference.

Perhaps my views will change in time to come but this I certainly the way I see them now.

The polished dish with the white stars will look real hot as it matches the car colour. I don't see Uber on the forums anymore...Nono

RE: Throwing stars polished lip or not?
If the standard throwing stars are polished to keep them clean they will eventually get a shine . The pic of the anthracite throwing stars on the anthracite car looked good .
It would be very easy to say have each rim painted differently then post pics and poll the e34 mafia and fellow fanatics .Rofl

RE: Throwing stars polished lip or not?
Rick, be different and be daring.

You have spent the last year with a very serious look on your face fixing this car to the best you can.

Now wipe the canvas and go crazy with the wheels and something that will make you feel like a kid at Christmas everytime you so much as glance at your car.

It's only paint mate.

If you like the white rim, please vote I added the option.

I am off to buy a bullet proof vest tomorrow becuase I think white is flippin unique and shows of the stars bigtime. At first I thought it feminine and Japanese but then changed my mind.

They would have to be cleaned daily but there is a hosepipe and soap right next to where I park the car.

The white will look superb, get a decent wax on them and you are made.
