Leather seat care for my F30 BMW 330D

Now that all the mechanical parts of the car have been taken care of, it is time for a little look into the interior.
As recommended by @Benji , I ordered some Autoglym Leather Cleaner and their Leather Balm from the Crazy Detailer online store.
About 2 hours later, some elbow grease, patience and a beer to reward myself, I have some fresh leather seats to appreciate!
The smell, the feel and the look is so satisfying!

I didnt get a before unfortunately, will definitely do it next time.
This product is top quality and well worth it, and will last you a couple of years. It will do well to remove that shine ;)

I recently purchased the Gyeon leather care kit, their mild leather cleaner works really well and very easy to use.
I prefer using the scrub pad it comes with over a normal microfiber cloth as well. The kit also comes with a "light" leather coating product to help protect the leather.

The scrub pad is magic. Highly recommended. It also cleans up quite well with the product that G Shift ( @gavsadler ) sells (Rags to riches).

I have been using the Leather Sheld, heavy and mild cleaners from Gyeon (with the brush and scrub pad) for years. I must be on my 5th kit of the leather shield by now. Highly recommended. It was torture tested when my kids were very little :ROFLMAO:

That being said, Autoglym makes some great products too - especially the cleaner. I used the balm before switching to Gyeon.

Guys dont knock me but i have used the same cheap product for over 25 years and my mum used it on our leather sofas for 10 years before that. Wynns Leather Care cream.

Every week without fail on my cars with leather, wipe down with a damp chamois, apply leather care cream with a sponge and then wipe off excess with a microfibre cloth.

Whenever i sold my cars or people see my old beemers they always comment on nice the leather is.

The 35 year old grafton everest lounge suit is still doing duty with a relative and and the leather still looks amazing.

But only every 2 or 3 x a year.

When I was a kid, Wynn's was the 'expensive' product BTW. It has stood the test of time.

Good product for unfinished leather too.

Nothing wrong with using what you like/works for you. My favourite tyre product (despite having products that cost several times that amount) was the Rally tyre spray in the purple can and for rubber/plastic they had a UV protectant and conditioner in the orange little bottle. Both have long since been discontinued (I bought them whenever I had spotted them as they ran out the stock, but I haven't seen them in ages now).

These unfortunately sit in the awkward space of not being the cheapest crap (eg: the bulk silicone/shield products) but they are also lacking the 'premium consumer' vibe of Meguiars/Turtlewax/Sonax. Even then alot of people migrate to the boutique brands because Megs/Turtlewax etc have now actually become more expensive in some instances trading on their brand recognition and accessibility. No way is the Megs tyre thing worth more than Gyeon/Autoglym/Nasiol but the average guy has no idea what Gyeon is and he can't buy it at a Builder's or Makro. There is a Meguiars M888 ceramic coating for instance that costs more than a professional kit from any established ceramic brand...

Nothing wrong with Megs either BTW - there are many products still worth it and that I still use (eg: the Ultimate Compound, PlastX and DC Carnauba wax for certain things)

I have always used to Megs Gold class leather cleaner. It is exceptional , especially with its ability in cleaning stitching. Iv always been curious of Gyeon but just haven't pulled the trigger because im scared i i prefer Megs, then im stuck with a leather cleaner that i am not happy with for a whole year.

Im actually dying to do my car and wifey's car, but the lack of time when having a kid is real. Its now a chance of spending a weekend day playing with baby, or missing out on the quality time and doing what i would do before and detail the car or clean the leather.

I have at least have done both steering wheels and arms rests so at least those two prime spots are nice, mean and matte as they should be 😁

The leather shield is a totally different type of product. It's a ceramic coating for the leather and lasts me around 8 months. You just wipe with water in between. It leaves a totally 'new matte' finish too. For cleaning, once the initial heavy lifting is done with a product/steaming, you don't have to manhandle the leather for subsequent applications as well.

The smell of the Megs leather care product is amazing and I did use it for many years - the issue I had was with perforated leather where it 'fills in' the spots and becomes a bit of a nightmare to deal with.

The best part about Meguiars products is usually the smell come to think of it... really doesn't make you feel like you're using a 'chemical' sometimes LOL.

haha actually you are rite. Even the car wash guy that i 'trained' how to wash my car correctly and to use my soap instead of theirs commented how good the Gold class shampoo smells. Most other products yeah you get kind of nauseas after a whole day of use. The Megs tire gel has awesome blueberry like smell

That The leather shield definitely sounds like my kind of product. I will def look it up. DO you guys buy Gyeon form 2js detailing?

Came across the above. Anybody tried it out? Looks like the OEM Merc and Nissan SA brand

The reason I ask is because it's dirt cheap compared to the other products :ROFLMAO:
