Porsche 911

I mentioned in my Cayman thread that we were parting ways.

While in CT for work, a mate sent me details and pictures of a car that I’ve been lusting over for a while. It just became available and was not even advertised by Porsche.

Made immediate contact with them and made arrangements to go and see the car. And the rest is history.

Once I saw it I knew this would be a great replacement for the Cayman and that was definitely confirmed after the test drive.

Car in question is a 991.1 911 GTS in Agate Grey.

I almost pulled the trigger beginning of November on a 991.2 GTS, while an amazing car, extremely fast I still wanted to remain normally aspirated. So passed on the .2.

Was considering 991.1 GT3 but the GTS is perfect for my needs now, more usable with the family, comfortable and can perform regular daily driver duties. I’ve realized that Porsche has me as a customer for a long time so will prefer to go through the journey enjoying as many models as I can.

Delivery happened Friday at 4pm and Saturday at 6:30am left for a pre-planned Clarens trip with some other Porsche mates.

That's a 1.5-1.7m car..what were your options?.2022/23 G82 X drive for around the same price as a competitor. 2019s GTS are around 2bar.

Always a considerable dilemma..an older Porsche or newer lower mileage G8x.

What a great way to “run in” a new car. An almost 900km return trip with 2 like minded Porsche friends.

Got to know the car well spending so much of seat time the day after purchase.
Extremely comfortable, like a grand tourer, managing 3 hour driving sessions with no body ache complains.
Engine loves to rev freely and every time, you get towards the red line, the sound from the exhaust is great. Cayman exhaust was louder with more angry burbles and pops. The 911 sounds more aggressive and grown up.

We managed to find some decent driving roads in and around Clarens and was reserved at first while still learning the car. Once comfortable, I pushed more and more and while different dynamics to the Cayman lots and lots of fun was had.

Was the first of many memorable road trips!

Congrats Nish! It is such a beautiful car! So glad u went .1 or .2 ; these N/A cars have so much more soul and is a much better drive (imo). Once u go Porsche its very hard to move away from the brand…

I know you have only had the car for a short time now but hows the handling on the twisty roads compared to the Cayman?
