So I'm currently on my 4th TT, the last gen. It isn't the fastest car out there but it definitely puts a smile on your face every time you plant your right foot down. A clean example of the previous gen. can be found for under R250k. None of my TTs have/had a maintenance plan but touch wood (not my own) I've never really had any major issues with them.

I had an 8J TT.
DSG gave issues multiple times.
Then electric faults while still under plan but were not fully resolved.

I had oil consumption issues on my both my petrol A3 8V and A4 B8 (both manual), so not a fan of the TFSI engines as the mileage rocks up.

The TT, even the 1.8TFSI, is brisk enough, but not my cup of tea these days.

Strangely enough, all my other petrol Audis gave me DSG/oil issues while under motorplan.

This car has been sitting at the dealer for a while. Being non m sport and being auto may be the issues.

Agree that manual would be first prize.

The problem with this dealer is that the advertised price is always R15 to R20k less than reality when you get to their floor.. R5k on road and R15k Mandatory warranty! I don't bother with them, they insist on this and tend to be rude too..

I drove a super neat 2007 MX5 from a dealer in Sunninghill today. Excellent gearshift, meaty steering, clutch weight and grab point feels just right. The last time I drove a manual was in 2016, but this MX5 made it feel super natural.

The only negative is that the car is super cramped. I am 1.8m and I struggled to get comfortable in the car and my clutch leg felt too close to the steering wheel.

If I was shorter, it would be a super tempting car to buy (even though I will be sacrificing rear seats).

I went to test a Z4 E89 at Carbon Black Auto but it was already sold.

Will look at another E89, and also test an E82.

Toyota 86 is also on my radar.

I have a 125i. auto. Happy chappy.
Bit of history:
I was initially looking at a Z4 Coupe. The issue with the coupe, is you fall in, not as much as getting in. Great car if its a 2nd car and they hold value. get a manual. sports seats. the dream would be an M-coupe.
I wanted to use the Z4 as a daily, but after a test drive, i said no.
I needed a car that if my folks wanted to use, get in and go, and needed some level of practicality.
the 125 i got was by luck. guy was moving to holland, i wasn't really keen, but it had all the specs i wanted and the engine.
i am happy with the auto, it could be a bit faster to gear up or down but its still a good box. i have the steptronnic paddles, and i kinder enjoy that you can use one hand to change up or down.
also, i have done the bimmerlabs tune, which was free to download, and now my car has the 130i tune. i am planning to update the gearbox to the 130i auto file when i have time.

regarding the toyota 86, if you are driving it fast, its a fun car. everywhere else, its so crap.
My mate has 1, every robot to robot f1 challenge he gets left behind. now and then i give him a headstart.
the ride in an 86, you feel every bump, there are so many rattles. horrible. but when you're going fast around the twisties, what a machine! the weight of the bmw, can be felt, it doen't rotate as well around a bend, the 86 is on rails. then you find a straight part and say bye bye.

Have the 2011 e88 125i since last year.. Before that had the e92 335i N54 (stock) in manual, it was fun to drive and was my daily for 4 years before I got a E90 330d..

The 125i is auto, and it is not the fastest off the mark but damn everytime I take it out it puts a smile on my face.. Even the SO enjoys it a lot, and hardly touches the G02 X4..

As a nippy weekender, it ticks the box for me, SO and our two kids.. It's one thirsty basturd though🤣🤣20220916_142509.jpg

There are 2 on WBC with less than 70 000km

As always, good cars are taken by dealers before they hit the floor, your surviving chance, if interested, is outbidding them via online auction.

SHEW! 125i is so thirsty.....doesn't have an oil temp gauge but an active fuel gauge.
i do a lot of stop start short trips, 3 to 4km.....so averages 17! but on the highway, down to 7 sometimes below if you keep around 100. also a decat helps that. i think the best i saw was around 8.odd from cpt to mossel bay. 900km trip. ave around 125km/h with ac on, 2 persons, boot with light luggage.

I tested a 2017 Swift Sport today. Gearshift feels rubbery and steering feels vague. The only good things are its ability to rev hard to 7,200 and the sporty chassis. The rest is pretty underwhelming. Better than a Polo but still overrated in my view.

The MX5 NC feels the best (proper Sports car DNA), but is cramped.

I am still waiting for a manual 125i E82 - seems very rare.

So far, the MX5 had the best driving feel for under R200k.

The sale of my EcoSport has been postponed. Valuations are pretty decent. MitMak motors offered an excellent value, while WBC offered the lowest (they did not care about the extras I fitted). My private sale has fallen through, so will go with MitMak once I find a toy.

Thanks.
The 2013 car is an auto. The advert is incorrectly refering to manual.
The 2010 car seems good. Just concerned to follow a private sale. Prefer dealing with a dealership.
