My '08 Space Grey E93 V8 M3

Been a fan of BMW's for many years, I remember my aunt driving us to school in her white E30, another aunt also had a silver E46 325i that I was a huge fan of and finally I remember the day my father brought home his own white E36 M3 Coup (still have the brochure he got from the dealership). A friend of mine in high school also had a 318i E30 Cabrio that we used to get up to all kinds of shenanigans in and was the wagon that also got me to fall in love with convertibles.

While I've admired beemers I never had the means to buy my own until around a year ago. Shopped around at first for a E46 M3 for a while but couldn't find a clean one at a reasonable price anymore, so decided to go drive a few E9X M3's and fell in love with that high revving V8 engine. So once I knew that was what I wanted I eventually found a '08 Space Grey E93 M3 with all the right boxes ticked I was looking for, manual transmission, low mileage (65k at the time), well taken care of interior, full service history, LCI brake lights upgrade, bearings and actuators done, no iDrive dash bump, convertible, only OEM carbon fibre cosmetic upgrades, stock with no performance upgrades - I was sold big time.

Pulled the trigger and have been overjoyed ever since to catch a glance of it in my parking spot and take it out on the road and just enjoy the growl of that engine with the top down. 😁 Done a few small cosmetic upgrades since I've bought it - put on matt black OEM Competition Package wheels, wrapped the chrome window beadings etc in black and added a carbon fibre boot spoiler.

Hoping to enjoy many more happy years with her on the road! Recently started an Instagram page where I plan to regularly upload more pics and adventures with my ///M, so if you're interested to see more give it a follow: https://www.instagram.com/gurrs_garage/.

Hope to see you guys out there on the road sometime!

I'm curious what made you go for the e93 over the e92. Even though I have an m6 often find myself lusting after one of these.

As mentioned I think I have a lot of good memories with convertibles, from my friends E30 convertible to my dad also owning a Mercedes-Benz 500SL convertible, I've always just enjoyed the top down experience. Also doesn't hurt that you can hear and enjoy the V8, intake and exhaust much better with the top down either!šŸ˜„

Nicely done! Great that you got the manual!

But… I want to hear all about that E36 M3 your dad bought brand new! That was epic! Do you still have the brochure? I’d like to see which one it was, I have the one with the Transvaal numberplates on the cars!!

Thanks, yea I drove both the DCT and manual but just had to go with what I felt was the more engaging experience.

Sadly the brochure was not in the best condition when I got ahold of it, was packed away in not the best conditions in his office for a long time and looks like it had some pages cut out of it but it has good sentimental value for me. Sounds like it might be the same one you have, see the pics below:

Make sense. Happy motoring.
