Would this be financial suicide on maintenance?

Will check the VIN, but if no issues, then how costly are these cars to maintain?

RE: Would this be financial suicide on maintenance?
Viewed a newer one over the weekend. What a car.

This seems like good value, for what it is.

Personally I'd wait around for an lci - which will obviously come at a higher premium...

RE: Would this be financial suicide on maintenance?
I found another one - but, a 2013 640i GC, 80,000km - with extended plan that expires in Sep 2019 (soon). Price is R360k

I guess you can only extend the plan out to 7 years?
So, if one had to extend to Sep 2020 on time only, how much would it be?

I love these cars.. Want to get a 640d at some stage, so much presence and features for what is essentially F30 money.

These are quite reliable as is the same with the 30d motor in all spec levels.

I've recently bought a 2018 640d Gran Coupe, from my research they are solid cars.

Something was improved in the LCI motor for better fuel consumption, not so say that the pre-lci is heavy on fuel.

The 6 is really a premium car and well worth the money imo, but not an every day car due to its size.

RE: Would this be financial suicide on maintenance?
The 640d I posted above is out of plan.

I am going to see a 2013 640i GC today (80,000km).
It has an extended plan, that expires in Sep 2019.
The dealer quoted me on these extensions (all 1 year, given that the max MP extension allowed is 7 years from first registration):
100,000km/Sep 2020 = R24k
105,000km/Sep 2020 = R32k (seems to suit me best)
110,000km/Sep 2020 = R41k

Will test drive the car first and see if it is a good buy at R360k.

The N55 is a nice engine as well, just not as durable as the N57

RE: Would this be financial suicide on maintenance?
Get the diesel.

Less troublesome, lighter and juice, and you will most likely get a better resale on it.

RE: Would this be financial suicide on maintenance?
I would settle for the diesel as well. I have not heard not many issues with the LCI versions but an extended MP or after market waranty plan will give peace of mind for the first year of ownership.

Would this be financial suicide on maintenance?
If I had known what I know now I would've gone for a 640d over the 650i. The cars themselves are reliable...the V8 less so. Some parts and maintenance may be a wee bit more expensive than lower rung models but overall it's not bad at all.

If you get one that has CIC iDrive fitted you can easily update to NBT or even EVO. But, try to find an LCI model of that's something you'll be bothered by.
