Where did you get it that price? I can't find lower than R535. Haven't checked at a filling station yet...
Midas in Alberton

Thanks. I think I'll give them a call. I need to stockpile. I want to start changing my oil every 7500 to 10000km or so.

Phone around. Tell the Midas closest to you that Alberton had it for R399 if they can't match the price.

I did that with Goldwagen.

4 different GWs had my A3 plugs at R720 for 4.

The 5th one had it for R404 for 4.

That got me pondering why the big difference in price. So I went to the nearest GW to me to get the rest of the parts.

When they asked me if I don't want the plugs, I said no cos the other branch had it cheaper and they said no problem they will match that price.

Wonder how many other prices were higher than normal.

That's a rather rubbish practise. But that's why most collude. Alberton isn't far at all. Thanks bud. I'll do that with any other parts I'd need.

RE: Oil advise required
Depending on the dealer they might have used 0W20 also. 0w30 would be good and no problems with using a higher viscosity in this range.

Ideally you would like a mid SAPS product because of our Diesel Quality and availability in SA.

5W30 would not be the right way in my opinion.

On the Approval side, most of the oils here mentioned have the additives with the Approval's which put there specs up to the approval standard, but not all mentioned here has got the actual approval.

Shell and Castrol carry BMW approvals, not 100% sure about Liqui Moly. Will look into it. it might just be the spec additive with the approval

But that said as long as you choose a product that has got the Spec/Approval/Performance of what the engine require you are on the right track.

RE: Oil advise required
If you run your VIN number at the bmw dealerships, they will give you Twin Power Turbo oil, which is 5w30.

Not badly priced either. Shell ultra will cost around R85 per 500ml and 1L of bmw oil for around the same price.

RE: Oil advise required
Goldwagen has a deal with Liqui on the 4605 5W30. It is a good price and good spec. They sell it between R390-R405 depending new or old stock.

I can supply Megalube, same spec as Liqui, shell, motul, Castrol etc. Local blend with a Chevron base and Lubrizol additives for R300.00, OW SAPS oils are slightly more expensive.
